Komodo Dive Safari Special

pelagic tour little fish

Komodo National Park is one of the world’s richest marine environments. Amazing underwater coral gardens, home to a myriad of exotic fish await you at our dive sites. Sharks and manta rays are also common visitors to these waters.

Our diving schedule in the park is split into northern sites and southern sites according to the season. Pelagic Tour offers two amazing itineraries for divers. Both of them include the best dive spots in the park and promise divers the opportunity to experience some of the most dramatic diving on earth.

All our trips are family friendly with special discounts for children.

North Komodo National Park 6 days / 5 nights Diving safari on a Schooner

Itinerary:

ON DAY ONE

Upon arrival at Labuan Bajo airport (located at the western tip of Flores), we purchase our ‘conservation’ tag to enter the Komodo National Park. After we settle in on board the Schooner, we depart to Sebayor Island, less than two hours from the mainland.

After embarkation, there will first be a general ships’ briefing to familiarize you with the vessel and our safety and emergency procedures. We do a test dive to check our equipment, make adjustments to the weights and get to know each other. We spend the night at the mooring and do our first-night dive. We do two dives this day.

ON DAY TWO

We sail to Gili Lawa Laut. This small island located in the north of Komodo offers beautiful landscapes and some of the prettiest dive sites in the Park. This area offers classic reef dives, sea-mounts, and exciting channels.

Here we do three dives including ‘Crystal Rock’, famous for its spectacular scenery where the turn of every corner brings a new surprise – be it a school of fish, stunning corals or even the occasional shark. In late afternoon our staff will take you to an amazing spot on the hill to enjoy the sunset over the Park. We do 4 dives this day.

Red Coral

ON DAY THREE

We plan an early morning dive at Castle Rock. With its tip just six meters below sea level, this spectacular sea-mount is regarded as probably the best shark site in the park. Sometimes we see dolphins on patrol, rainbow runners, schools of jacks, and eagle rays hovering in the clear blue waters. We plan to dive here four times, including a night dive. We do 4 dives this day.

ON DAY FOUR

We hoist anchor and moves to the island of Tatawa. Our first dive will be a drift dive on a beautiful reef where we can expect to spot turtles as well as humphead parrot fish. Our second dive will be on Batu Bolong which is considered one of the best sites in the Park. The marine life around this small pinnacle is nothing short of breath-taking with plenty of fish action including sharks, giant trevallies, tuna and Napoleon wrasse.

Komodo IslandThe expansive reef of Karang Makasar is one of the best places to spot manta rays in the national park; divers have rarely been disappointed. We will also try to spot some black-tip reef sharks which often patrol between the coral bommies. We will do our last day dive here. In the late afternoon, the Schooner sails a south-easterly course towards the northern tip of Rinca island. After the captain anchors, we plan to do an exciting night dive. We do 4 dives this day.

ON DAY FIVE

Boat Diving

We do our last dive after breakfast on the island of Tengah Kecil. This is a sloping reef which has colorful hard and soft coral growth, abundant sponges and fish life. Along the top of the reef, hard corals provide homes for huge clouds of schooling anthias and fusiliers.

After lunch, we will go ashore and take a short hike inland on Rinca Island to spot the famous Komodo Dragons. Once we are back aboard, the Schooner sails a short distance to an anchorage just north of the westernmost tip of the island. Afterward, we will go ashore and take a short hike to the nearby village and meet the local people. We hope to hear of their adventures at sea and of their secrets of life and death. We will spend the night at anchor. We do 2 dives this day.

ON DAY SIXKomodo Dragon

You will wake up in the harbor of Labuan Bajo on the  Flores mainland. After breakfast, we say farewell to the captain and crew and transfer you to the airport for the return flight to Bali or to any other destination.
